The public can benefit from the camp by stopping by Moodys to hear the instructor jams. “They have a chance to get together at night which (is rare) because they’re always playing with their own band and are very busy” Morgan said.

“Jazz for a Change—Music for a Brave New World!” will celebrate America’s indigenous music with jazz blues R&B and hot rhythms. Founded by Sam Favors and Gene Adams the goals of the free FJF are to “further the awareness and appreciation of Jazz and its African American origins; enhance the Twin Cities’ Jazz cultures and various Jazz communities in Minnesota; stimulate the interest of the youth audience in Jazz music; create a regular interaction between Jazz artists and enthusiasts as a way to connect communities; and promote positive community and family relations through Jazz events. ” Co-sponsored this year by the Minnesota Arts Board National Endowment for the Arts Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board radio station KFAI the Dakota Foundation for Jazz Eductaion websites Jazz Police and JazzINK and Westport Company the FJF is a nonprofit volunteer-run community organization headed by Lamar Scott.
