Downtown between the Chase bank building and the Blue Bottle a cozy laid-back atmosphere came together for Freaky Tikki Friday as the sun dipped below Vera Mae’s across the street. Local band Peterson Simmons and Dunn filled the empty lot with the sounds of jazz: saxaphone trumpet trombone flute keyboard and bongo-type drums. The jam session included oldie hits like The Drifters “Under the Boardwalk” and The Wild nes “Wild Thing. ” The tables brought out for the event filled quickly leaving many to stand and sway to the beat. Looking around you’d see all types of people from an older man in a straw hat smoking a pipe to groups of 30-somethings celebrating a birthday to college-age students relaxing with a beer winding down at the end of the work week. Eventually more tables had to be brought out to accommodate the number of people who showed up.
