Children’s choir and jazz music fill Friday night’s roster

PMCC has showcased its choir outside of Canada most recently at Carnegie Hall in New York and in Riva Del Garda Italy where the choir won gold in international competition. The choir has also visited Korea Germany and recently Kiev Ukraine. The choir is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year and will share a variety of music from the last three decades. Selections for the evening include spirituals Broadway songs and choral classics. Four of the choir members and choir manager Marcella Redekop are Mission residents. ther current members are from Abbotsford Aldergrove Langley Surrey and Chilliwack. This year’s Presser student is Jonathan Poquete (Dixon). • Carl Lutes Music utstanding Graduating Senior Award — Jered Montgomery (Mulkeytown)• Herbert Krauss Memorial Scholarship — This scholarship for a jazz student participating in a student jazz ensemble went to Nathan Fry (Pittsfield). • Phil and Marion lsson Scholarship in Music — This scholarship goes to an outstanding trumpet player whose interests combine classical and jazz music. The recipient is Amber Marie Blacharski (St. • Underwood Flute Scholarship — This award is for an incoming student and is based partly on a competitive audition.

? The Playboy Jazz Festival also hosts a free community concert on Sunday June 7. The free concert is presented as part of the ?Concerts in the Park?
