As an Indian raised in the United States in a household of Indian classical music lovers I grew up surrounded by a constant atmosphere of Carnatic and Hindustani melodies. Despite this I never fully appreciated the depth and beauty of these music forms until I discovered jazz. Jazz music with its emphasis on improvisation spontaneity and rhythmic intricacy provided the perfect language for a young teenager to describe the complexities of Indian music. It was only through jazz ironically that I came closer to my native culture and discovered an art that I had always taken for granted. For this reason jazz music will always have a soft spot in my heart. Tamar’s Kitty Sears is creator and executive producer and Tall Pony’s Tony Eaton (3 time Grammy winner Tim McGraw Reflected; Usher The Truth Tour) is co-executive producer for the International Jazz Awards which will be directed by Louis Horvitz (Academy Awards Country Music Awards etc. ) and produced by Igo Kantor and co-produced by Annice Parker.

It’s a great balance between trumpet saxophones and clarinet. “Some of his favorite jazz players are John Coltrane Wayne Shorter Dave Liebman (all saxophonists) and Michel Petrucciani.
