His dad was a church choir director so he sang in church. That was only the beginning; Chris took his music experiences wherever he could get them — in school as a side player for many years and working as a music educator in varied capacities. Currently he heads the music program at Chevrus High School in Portland and teaches jazz piano part time at the University of Southern Maine. “I have walked through every musical door but only later in life did I start to make my own musical path” reflects Humphrey now in his 40s. “This CD is the first time I was able to say ‘What do I want to do musically? There have been so many tunes in his repertoire over so many years selecting material for the recording was not an easy task. What were his favorites? Says Humphrey “Part of me feels that whatever song I am doing right now is my favorite.
