(There’s a danger of romantic ballad overload here which the group barely skirted. ) Together the musicians worked through close-to-the-ground grooves and slow rhythmic buildups and Ni?osele applied what he knew troweling on the flamenco ornamentation on each chord after he landed on it. But he performed very little jazz-style improvising through the chord changes of the songs and it may seem odd that a Spanish musician untrained in jazz would go straight to Bill Evans one of the music’s heroes for soloing through changes. It didn’t much matter. Flamenco doesn’t neatly superimpose over jazz and Ni?osele isn’t meeting Evans completely on Evans’s terms. (He’s not drawing out the Andalusian-ness in these songs either because there’s none to speak of… (There’s a danger of romantic ballad overload here which the group barely skirted. ) Together the musicians worked through close-to-the-ground grooves and slow rhythmic buildups and Ni?osele applied what he knew troweling on the flamenco ornamentation on each chord after he landed on it. Blue Note’s roster was a Who’s Who of jazz
San Diego Union Tribune – May 24, 2007
The label was sold twice more before being shuttered in 1979. It was relaunched in 1985 and once again ranks as one of the world's top jazz imprints even if its glory days are now decades past. The label will host a dedicated jazz stage at next month's Bonaroo Music & Arts Festival in Tennessee. It will feature such veteran Blue Note artists as Lonnie Smith and Lou Donaldson who will perform with such young lions as Stefon Harris Robert Glasper and Roots drummer Ahmir “?uestlove” Thompson. Lion and his wife former Blue Note publicity director Ruth moved to San Diego in 1978 and lived in North County until his death in 1987. Wolff died in 1971. Many of his classic photos featured in the La Jolla exhibit at Morrison Hotel Gallery were stored in two large trunks in the Lion's house until the mid-1980s.
Summer pop music rule No. 1: No singing along at the top of your lungs
Providence Journal – May 24, 2007
1: No singing along at the top of your lungs01:00 AM EDT on Thursday May 24 2007 There’s plenty of music out there this summer and we’re all going to be enjoying it together. So let’s be considerate and review the rules K?No singing along at the top of your lungs. Look around you once in a while and make sure you’re not bumping into anyone. No dancing with beer in your hand. The opening act and the headliners have already agreed on their set times; booing the opening act will not bring the headliners on any faster… Your sign is blocking the view of about 20 people every time you raise it so make it count. And if you’re not in the first two rows or so the people on stage can’t see it anyway so why bother? In general remember that the person next to you paid just as much for their ticket as you did for yours and if your “enjoyment” of the concert interferes with theirs then no you don’t have the right to do it. n with the shows!Circle it: The final day of the JVC Jazz Festival-Newport (Aug. 10-12) is the jam of the summer. The fest closes out with B. King Al Green and Etta James.

I haven’t produced obviously on a larger scale but I’d love to. I love making things. I love going from the improv realm and the more jazz-based instant creation you know being in front of an audience and creating for them. My music comes from that. All my stuff is live and then I take it home and I rearrange it then I write to live music I did in front of people. I’d love to do that with other artists. MTV: What can we expect on the tour?Lewis: Tour! h I’m very excited about the tour because I get to use my loop pedals and my guitar.
