– The wannabe interior designer from Miami and the jazz connoisseur from New York find themselves on a collision course in Fresno of all places. L o u i s i a n a S t a t e junior center Sylvia Fowles and Connecticut’s freshman center Tina Charles are artists on the basketball court yet somehow still manage to maintain a sense of thoughtful artistry off it. However a few minutes after 9 tonight Fowles’ sewing needles and Charles’ remarkable collection of jazz music will be replaced by swinging elbows bruising battles underneath the basket mid-range jumpers and blocked shots. ne of them will walk off the Save Mart Center court with dreams of a national championship very much intact.

ndaatje has only published five novels. He is famous for The English Patient (1992) that was made into one of the most awarded films in 1996. His first novel Coming Through Slaughter (1976) is about jazz music in New rleans in 1907. This was followed by In the Skin of a Lion (1987) on the history of the city of Toronto in the 1920s. It introduces the characters Hana and Caravaggio who continue in The English Patient. Anil’s Ghost (2000) is on human rights violations in Sri Lanka. Anil Tissera is a forensic anthropologist who teams up with a mysterious archaeologist Sarath Diyasena.
